5 Secrets to Help You Find Yourself Again

Sometimes we find ourselves on a path we don’t know or haven’t encountered. It mostly happens when we start living to fulfill others’ expectations, or because of atraumatic incident or memory, or just simply the loss of connection with worldly affairs. It feels easier to do these days as we face this global pandemic and the changes forced on everyone around the globe. This can create a fear of being lost in life.

When you feel lost you are left with two basic choices:

  1. Continue on the path where you already are.
  2. Find yourself again.

“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves”.

“Life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.”

If you are trying to find yourself again, look in the place where you lost it.

Are you feeling invisible?

Are you living a life to satisfy others’ expectations?

Are you surrounded by people who let you down?

Or you are still stuck in your past?

These 5 tips can help you get out of the empty tunnel where you might be stuck and can move you towards light.

1. Try to avoid toxic thoughts:

Toxic or bad thoughts are common, but these thoughts do not define you as a person.  Therefore, try to stop dwelling on every toxic thought. Do not let yourself be defined by one person’s bad comment or negativity. We know, it’s easier said than done, but if you practice, it will get easier. Try to choose good thoughts out of bad ones and you will start to find yourself again.

“I decided I can’t pay a person to rewind time, so I may as well get over it.”

2. Try not to control everything around you:

Life happens to us the way it wants, don’t try to control this flow and interrupt its natural pattern of flowing. If you do so, then it will result in an imbalance which creates withdrawal and that leads to solitude and separation and then the losing of yourself.

You can stop this downward spiral by stopping to try and take control over everything. Sometimes, you just have to focus on yourself, on your surroundings. Make choices for yourself not for the people that surround you because they have their own paths to follow.

With this practice, you will be able to find yourself again.

3. Recategorize your needs and desires:

We often confuse our needs with our wants. To live, we need the essentials of life. Try to figure out your essentials for life, then start recategorizing the things you have in your life that are simply wants, or material things and desires, and Be Honest with yourself.

By shaping your thoughts, take some energy and you will be able to prioritize your needs, this will help you find yourself again.

“On my own I will just create, and if it works, it works, and if it doesn’t, I’ll create something else. I don’t have any limitations on what I think I could do or be.”

4. Try to use Positive statements in your daily life:

Don’t let your negative thoughts conquer you. Try to use positive statements in your daily work routine. Don’t think of yourself as a failure instead start saying to yourself that “I can do this. Start taking little steps towards your positive self again, and you’ll find your thoughts become reality.

One of our favorite quotes is:

“Failure is not the opposite of success, it is part of success.”

5. Give yourself time:

We live in an era where everyone to seems want an instant gratification. This can lead us to be impatient with ourselves. Allow yourself a time to re-explore yourself. Be quiet, take time out and think of creative ways to rise above negative situations. Try meditations or anything you love, to slow down your life thus allowing yourself time to think!

When you try this, guess what you discover? Yourself.

“Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. And, when you stumble, keep faith. And, when you’re knocked down, get right back up and never listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t go on.”
